Visitors to The Westbury Hotel Dublin will have a unique opportunity to see a work by one of the world’s most renowned artists, Dale Chihuly, from the 20th of June to the 31st of July. Normally exhibited in the most prestigious art houses in the world, Dale Chihuly’s stunning Macchia glass art work will be exhibited in the hotel for guests to view.
The Westbury Hotel Dublin enjoys an unrivalled location just off Grafton Street at the heart of the city’s premier cultural and is the home to one of Ireland’s most stunning privately-owned art collections, including pieces by Sir John Lavery and Louis le Brocquy. The Westbury Hotel Dublin is the perfect location for this unique piece of artwork to be displayed. Chihuly’s Macchia will no doubt prove to be a treat for visitors as his vibrantly coloured glass installations and opulent chandeliers hang in many of the world’s most prestigious museums and public spaces including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the Louvre in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Corning Museum of Glass, also in New York.
The Macchia exhibition piece is on loan from the hotel’s neighbour and gallery partner, Solomon Fine Art. Other examples of Chihuly’s work will also be on display in Solomon Fine Art from the 20th of June to the 31st of July including a stunning ‘Waterford Sconce’ wall installation of blown and cut glass elements that Chihuly made at Waterford Crystal in 1995 during his major international ‘Chihuly Over Venice’ project.

For art enthusiasts, Dale Chihuly is not to be missed. Dale Chihuly lives and works in Seattle, together with artist Seaver Leslie he has worked together on a number of projects focused on Irish culture including a series called Irish Cylinders which was inspired by Irish literature and was followed up with a number of pieces inspired by Joyce’s Ulysses.
