Join the Irish Georgian Society for any of their historical walking tours this summer! Tours run from July through August.

Royal Canal Walk
Led by Historical Geographer and retired DCU lecturer, Peter Clarke.
SATURDAY 11 JULY, 2015

Historical Geographer and retired DCU lecturer, Peter Clarke, will lead a walking tour of the Royal Canal from Binns Bridge to Broadstone.  Following the canal past Mountjoy, St. George’s — the burial place of Francis Johnston, Mallett’s Mill to the old city Basin and King’s Inn and the Broadstone Railway Station.  Peter is author of Walking the Royal Canal: History and Local History.  Walk will last approximately one and a half hours and will begin mid-morning.

Led by OPW tour guide, Joseph Lynch, this evening tour will chart the development of the Georgian Northside core from the arrival of the Duke of Ormonde to the development of the Gardiner Estate. It will depart from Capel Street Bridge at 6pm taking in stops at Jervis and Mary Street, Henrietta Street, Bolton Street and Dominick Street, Parnell Square, North Great George’s Street and will conclude at Mountjoy Square.  Tour will last approximately 2 hours

Afternoon walking tour of Dublin’s City Centre East.

Led by Arran Henderson, art historian and Dublin Decoded guide.  Leaving from City Assembly House, South William Street at 2.15 pm, this tour will visit Powerscourt Townhouse, the Old Parliament including the interior of the House of Lords then on to Trinity College including Parliament Square, Exam Hall, Chapel and Dining Hall going on to Kildare Street, St. Stephen’s Green finishing at the Royal College of Surgeons.

Led by Rose Mary Craig.

Morning tour of Dun Laoghaire.Join Rose Mary Craig for a tour of the  East Pier in  Dun Laoghaire. Also visiting the new dlr LexIcon Library with coffee in Royal St. George Yacht Club.
