Hard Working Class Heroes – Twisted Pepper

FestivalMusic

Hard Working Class Heroes Festival is on this Friday, 3rd of October at the Twisted Pepper.

Moossmann

8pm - 8.30pm Twisted Pepper

A self-confessed Ableton Live aficionado, moossmann was an early adapter to OSC (Open Sound Control) and unconventional workflows. Using a highly-customisable touchscreen controller and forward-thinking software plugins and runtimes, moossmann is able to deliver a consistent yet unique live show every time. “Stability isn’t an issue at this stage – the live setup runs perfectly smooth until perhaps someone spills a drink!”

Liveset aside, moossmann has a long list of original material under his belt, including an acclaimed and much blogged about EP. The moossmann “sound” is widely described as tech-house, but regularly enters the realms of Techno, Deep House and Electronica in it’s broadest sense. Using some of the best analogue emulation out there, along with ‘found sound’ percussion, expect meticulous fidelity with a lot of analogue warmth!

moossmann has performed at 10daysindublin, has played support for James Holden and featured in 2014?s Beatyard festival, in association with Bodytonic. It’s undeniable that moosmann is an exciting name in Irish electronic music right now and is certainly one to watch for 2014.

Contour

8.40pm - 9.10pm Twisted Pepper

Conan Wynne and Anna Doran are Contour, an electronic duo from Dublin. The band have been making passionate, twisted, robotic soul music since 2013. Contour refuse to be defined by genre, instead focussing on creating a playfully aggressive sound-track to compliment every oscillation of your beautifully chaotic life.
Their 4 track EP "Chaos Theories" was inspired by the chaotic nature of life and also reflects the natural geometry that defines us physically, so it is organic but organised, like a Contour map. It has been made with the juxtaposition of the use of hardware analogue machines like old synthesizers and tape, alongside modern digital production and editing processes which give the tracks their edge.

Replete

9.20pm - 9.50pm Twisted Pepper

REPLETE is the music of Kilkenny native Peter Lawlor. He makes house! Contrary to most articles, he is not from Cork or Dublin!

"HP's fillings are a shaking as Kilkenny man Replete turns the bass up to 11 for a mesmerising electro set" - Hotpress

“Shows a confidence in both his knowledge and skills that prevent him from simply repeating the well-worn tricks of his contemporaries” - No Fear of Pop

“REPLETE combines indecipherable, dissected vocals, spooked beats and moody electronics to thrillingly swoonworthy effect” – Celina Murphy, Hotpress Magazine

Clu

10pm - 10.30pm Twisted Pepper

Inspired by 1980’s science fiction films, contemporary dance, 8 bit computer graphics and arcade sound tracks a la Streets of Rage... Clu works by fusing music and visual art together and concentrates on presenting these ideals to our audience.

Originally created by Sean Cooley and Kevin Freeney as a way to play music and vj to their friends in nightclubs around Dublin , Clu has since progressed into experimenting with short film, contemporary art installations and audio mixes for meditation.
