Dublin International Piano Festival and Summer Academy
The third annual Dublin International Piano Festival and Summer Academy is upon us and this year is set to be even more ambitious and impressive than before.
The 10 day festival, beginning July 25th till August 2nd, features 18 talented international piano students along with performances from world renowned pianists and educators. The festival will feature public masterclasses, seminars and performances from international master pianists; Edmund Battersby, Archie Chen, Evelyne Brancart, HJ Lim, and Lance Coburn. There will be seminars from Qatar-based Spanish performance psychologist, Dr. Jaime Diaz- Ocejo and piano technician Martin Walsh.
There will also be a seminars from world-renowned composer, producer and arranger, Bill Whelan; whose grammy winning album of music for Riverdance The Show is certified platinum in the United States, Ireland, and Australia. The title of this seminar is: "Composition, Improvisation - Who has the rights and does it matter?"
Another of the festival highlights is a performance from HJ Lim, a South Korean pianist of extraordinary imagination and vision. On Monday July 27th, HJ Lim's performance will include an appearance from the Venerable Seongdam Sunim, who will perform the unique ancient Korean singing technique of Jitsori. This rare collaboration promises to be highly unique, uplifting, and enlightening!
