The Old Stand

BarGastrobar

The Old Stand has been around for well over 300 years and, because of its prominent location and affluent surroundings, it has always enjoyed a rip-roaring trade.

The Old Stand food trade has long been revered around Dublin, being distinctive for it’s hot lunch dishes and it’s excellent fish salads and good wines.

The Old Stand is very popular at lunchtime and evenings for people to eat before heading to shows. Such items as freshly home made soup of the day and home made steak burgers are very popular

Its name hints at its closest sporting identity – rugby. In fact, the name came from a rugby stand at Lansdowne Road which is now demolished. During the War of Independence, the pub was visited by none other than Michael Collins, whose offices were close by.
